This is a collection of two different sessions. They'd be considered "EPs" nowadays. The first five tracks were recorded June 22nd of 1985. Jim Parnell and I had been jamming together for several months, but that night he'd invited a drummer over--Richard, whose last name I could never remember. Richard was a semi-pro in the Athens GA music scene. He played with several different bands in clubs and on the party circuit around town. My neighbor Jenifer Findley, whom I had known from the UGA Sci-Fi Society, sat in on the mixing board and tape recorder for us.

The final three tracks are from a year or so later. Jim had graduated college, moved away, and gotten married. I took up with several different garage bands to learn more and gain more experience working with other musicians. The best of these were Sweet Revenge--a loose collaboration of friends of no set number and wildly varying interests. The core trio was Roy, David, and Kenny. They would drop by at least once a week for a jam session. David would occasionally visit by himself when our swing shift's days off, at two different factories, coincided. These three tracks happened on one of those days. We plugged the bass and guitar straight into the mixing board so we wouldn't disturb the neighbors--meaning that we were both wearing headphones and there weren't any amps or speakers involved. David was using a little reverb box I'd bought at Radio Shack as a pre-amp and I just plugged straight in to the mixer.

Dan L. Hollifield -- Studio-D Athens, Georgia

I just celebrated my 60th birthday in early November of 2017. Music has always been a big part of my life. Radio, school bands, garage bands, computer programs- I've loved it all. I can't remember a time when there wasn't music in my life. Now I'm trying to get it out of my head so other people can hear what I imagine. I hope you like what you hear. I'm having a blast creating it! Thanks! ... more
